I didn't start out as a launch strategist.
I started out as a server and shot girl working two or three jobs at a time, barely making rent, with no clear direction and no idea what I wanted to do with my life.
I didn't have a calling. I just knew I wanted something different — and I wanted to travel.
So I started looking for online work and stumbled into a virtual assistant role almost by accident. It paid $9 an hour. Long list of responsibilities. No real support. Sound familiar?
Then I got hired by one of the first large virtual assistant agencies of its kind. They placed me with three to five clients at a time and I learned fast — how to manage multiple workloads, different personalities, different types of online businesses. It was messy and hard but I was learning more than I ever had.
Then one morning I woke up to an email that the company was shutting down. Effective immediately. Gone overnight.
I panicked.
But the clients I had been working with reached out and asked if I would keep working with them directly. Without the agency. Just me.
That was the accidental start of my business.
No grand plan. No business degree. No roadmap. Just a handful of clients who trusted me and a lot of figuring it out as I went.
Over the next several years I worked with everyone from startups to Fortune 1000 CEOs to seven-figure coaches. I tried almost every role a VA or online business operator could have. I raised my rates slowly, then faster. I moved to Hawaii. Then California. Then Florida. Then back home to Kansas City.
The freedom I had wanted? I actually built it.
And somewhere in all of that — after years of doing everything — I found what I actually loved.
